AT THE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER,
WE OFFER PROGRAMS TO ASSIST FAMILIES

The Oak Center Cultural Center’s Family Resource Center is a community-based hub in West Oakland that supports families with young children through essential resources, education, and connection. We provide access to weekly food and supply distribution, parent workshops, wellness activities, and family events. These are all designed to strengthen families and build a more supportive neighborhood. The Family Resource Center is operated by Oak Center Cultural Center, a trusted local nonprofit that has served West Oakland families for over 50 years.

Some of the programs we offer are:
 
⏺ The Nest Family Essentials Pantry. Our weekly food and essentials pantry provides groceries, diapers, wipes, and hygiene products for families in West Oakland. ⏺ Family Fun Days. Each month, the Oak Center Cultural Center brings families, with children ages 0–5, together for our Family Fun Days. These are community outings are designed to build connection and belonging across West Oakland. Hosted through our Family Resource Center, these gatherings take place at beloved Oakland landmarks and places like Children’s Fairyland, the Oakland Museum of California, local events, community gardens, libraries, art spaces, neighborhood parks, and so much more. Families share food, explore together, and take part in activities that strengthen relationships and spark curiosity in children. In partnership with local early learning programs and community organizations, Family Fun Days offer a fun, welcoming way for families to experience the city, discover local resources, and connect with one another. ⏺ Roots & Wings Parent Collective. Monthly gatherings for parents and caregivers to connect, share experiences, and grow together through workshops and play-based learning.

⏺ Wellness in the Yard. Saturday outdoor wellness series featuring yoga, movement, and family playgroups designed to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

⏺ Family Market & Community Days. Monthly outdoor markets bringing together local artists, small businesses, and families for live music, good food, and joyful connection.
