The Oak Center Cultural Center Inc. (OCCCI) is an organization centered on the use of art and culture in effecting positive change in Oakland’s local community and surrounding areas. As a community staple for over forty years, the center has provided programs, services, and resources in education, the arts, tutoring, mentoring, drug prevention, community childcare, health, fitness, life skills, job training and more.

Oak Center Cultural Center Annual Community Thanksgiving Banquer

Please join the Oak Center Cultural Center board and a team of community volunteers to feed disenfranchised families and individuals a Pre-Thanksgiving meal from noon to 3 pm.  We look forward to giving a hot meal, bag lunch to go and toiletries. 


This event was inspired by Loretta Newman; a single mom who bought the idea to the center sixteen years ago. The center has worked with churches, schools, businesses and a host of community volunteers to make this event a community success feeding hundreds of families and individuals.      This year for our annual toy drive and winter coat giveaway, we are allowing everyone to enjoy hot chocolate and pastries with Santa. You are also welcome to come and celebrate this holiday season, the season of giving, by donating your time and/or a toy for a child/family in need. You can volunteer as an elf serving the families in attendance, and/or you can donate a safe unwrapped toy, a gift card, snack bag, or winter coat. Please be make sure all donations are new or in good condition. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the OCCC, you can do so on our donation page. Thank you!


Oak Center Little People Academy

OAK CENTER LITTLE PEOPLE ACADEMY is committed to providing quality childcare to the families they serve, ensuring that parents can focus on their jobs realizing their precious "little people," are safe experiencing healthy days of balanced play, being nurtured, engaged and learning. Our school is operated by the Oak Center Cultural Center, Inc., a community nonprofit 501(c)3 serving the community with quality childcare for infants, toddlers and preschool age children.  The children's academy opened their doors February 2018 providing care diverse families in the west Oakland and downtown Oakland areas primarily. 


     We are excited Oak Center Cultural Center's team of board and associate members opened their doors to a vital needed community program at the beginning of the year to the, Oak Center Little People Academy. This infant-toddler preschool program offers quality childcare to children ages 3 months to thirty-six months. Our teachers hail as a team of experienced staff with a passion to provide each child with an exceptional education as well as social & emotional skills paving the way for kindergarten.
