WE WELCOME YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY CENTER
The Oak Center Cultural Center Inc. (OCCC) is a non-profit organization centered on the use of art and culture in effecting positive change in Oakland’s local community and surrounding areas. As a community staple for over forty years, the center has provided programs, services, and resources in education, the arts, tutoring, mentoring, drug prevention, community childcare, health, fitness, life skills, job training, and more.
The OCCC is partnering with Diamond Little People Academy in providing quality infant and toddler care starting in January 2022! As a non-profit, the center is able to provide care for a wide variety of families in the Oakland community. For details regarding enrollment, please contact the Admin Team:

THANKSGIVING BANQUET
Oak Center is excited to host its 18th annual community Thanksgiving Banquet on Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Please join the OCCC board and a team of community volunteers to feed disenfranchised families and individuals a Pre-Thanksgiving meal to go along with a snack and toiletry bag.
This event was inspired by Loretta Newman; a single mom who brought the idea to the center seventeen years ago. The center has worked with churches, schools, businesses, and a host of community volunteers to make this event a community success, feeding thousands of families over the years. Please help support this event by making a contribution to our donation page or signing up to volunteer your time. Thank you in advance!
WINTER WONDERLAND TOY GIVEAWAY
Annually OCCC has been fortunate to open the doors to the community by hosting their annual Toy Giveaway and Hot Chocolate and Snow Party with Santa. Children throughout the community comprised of a majority of low-income to unhoused families are able to receive toys, holiday cheer with Santa, hot chocolate, and the big surprise, SNOW! Teenage children receive gift cards and holiday magic as well.
We all love "THE SEASON OF GIVING," and this annual has enabled the center's board members, community volunteers, businesses, organizations, churches, and residents to spur on the holidays by donating to this event as well as volunteering to serve.
Last year the center experienced the misfortune of someone robbing the van filled with purchased toys for the event a week prior. We were able to share our hardship and the news stations, community, businesses, and organizations supported us by enabling this event to be a success.
This year we plan to open our doors to spur on the children and their families with a Christmas Toy Giveaway Extravaganza, with entertainment, a pancake breakfast, a train ride, snow, and of course toys and or gift cards. We are seeking support along with collaborating with other organizations to ensure this event is spectacular, especially during these challenging times.
We seek to get support from financial assistance from donations, grants, toys, gift cards, and more. We are in need of volunteers to serve as elves and use their talents to bring holiday joy to the children.
If you would like to make a monetary donation for this event please donate here on our donation page.
The event will occur on:
December 16, 2023
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
1324 Adeline Street,
